Our Story

In 2019, Dr. Mevo was the only Beninese doctoral graduate among 6,000 students at Walden University. This moment highlighted the lack of representation for French-speaking African students in the U.S. educational system. And therefore, within British ecosystem of education.

Afies+ was subsequently born to:

  • Simplify and accelerate enrollment for African students
  • Provide English language and cultural preparation
  • Create leaders who can shape the future of Africa and the world
  • Bridge the gap between business world of French-speaking countries and English-speaking one.

Dr. Kouassi Gilles Mevo, CEO of Afies+

Dr. Kouassi Gilles Mevo

CEO, Afies+

Founder and CEO of Afies+, Dr. Mevo is a proud member of NAFSA and a passionate advocate for cultural and educational exchange. Originally from Benin, he holds a Bachelor's degree in Marketing, a Master's in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University, and a Doctorate in Business Administration from Walden University. His career includes work with Coca-Cola and executive roles in marketing and sales before immigrating to the U.S.

Having experienced the challenges of transitioning from a French-speaking country to an American academic environment, Dr. Mevo founded Afies+ to bridge that gap for others. His vision includes:

  • Promoting U.S. and U.K. education as top destinations for African students
  • Supporting seamless student recruitment and success
  • Fostering shared growth between African, British, and American institutions
  • Being a bridge for the modernization of the grooming service industry, etc.

Rodrigue brings a decade of marketing and leadership experience in the growth of Afies+. He holds a Master's in Marketing and Business Communication, and a certificate in English Proficiency. His work ensures smooth client support and coordination of the operation of Afies+.

Rodrigue Mevo's past career includes work with MIKEM Technology as B to B sales Consultant before being promoted to the position of Assistant Merchant & Chief Logistic officer (ILIKO) for 5 years.
